Trade lists (offer & search)

COLLECTORBASE.net, Tutorial August 15, 2020 By No Response

GERMANWith COLLECTORBASE.net you can have offer and search lists created automatically. The lists update themselves and interested people can contact you directly via the list.
With a simple link you can distribute your lists in all forums, groups or to specific people. You can take the lists offline and back online with just one click and/or use a password, just as you like.

It has never been so easy!

The STATUS – The base of your trade lists

Why is the status important for my trading lists?

The status of the objects at the bottom of the detail page in your private data serves as the basis for these lists.

status

status

In the status of each object you can define if the object is in your collection, if it is in the mail, if you put it FOR SALE or if you are looking for it.

In both cases you can enter an amount that will be included in the selling/sales lists. As soon as you choose one of the two status types, it will be offered in a list defined by you.

If you have sold or bought an object, you change the status of the object and the object is automatically no longer in the lists you have distributed. You never have to update and distribute your lists manually again, once is enough.

Note

Only when you use the status FOR SALE or WANTED UP TO, the object can be added to a trade list.
If you own an object more than once (instances), you can select the status of each instance separately.

Note for the next version: COLLECTORBASE.net 2.0

In the next version of COLLECTORBASE.net the status will be changed automatically if you sell the object to another member of COLLECTORBASE.net.
There will also be the possibility for shops to install an interface to our database. It will allow your shop to automatically enter an object into your database with all relevant private data (e.g. date of purchase, price, seller) without your intervention.

Trade Lists: Overview

To get to the trade lists, click/tap on the reticle in the icon menu.
Then you get to the trade list overview.

Before your first trade list the overview is empty.
You can now choose whether you want to create a search list (upper half of the page) or an offer list (lower part of the page).

I will explain the functions of the overview to you after we have created your first search list.
To create a list you have to click the button “Create list”, this is the right button you will find in the search and offer lists.

Create a trading list

You have the following “functions”:

Name:
This is the name of your list. On the one hand, it should be speaking for you, because if you have 10 lists or more, your overview can become confusing WITHOUT clearly defined names. Furthermore, this is the official name of your list. Everyone who clicks on your link will read this name first and know what to expect in this list.
Furthermore you may allow people to switch between your lists. The more self-explanatory the name is, the easier you make it for others.

And it should be easy, you want to sell something or get offers 😉

Views:
It is of course interesting whether your list is even viewed. Here you can see how often your list is viewed.

Password:
You might want to have one or the other list that everyone can access. But since all lists are accessible via a link on the internet, you can protect them with a password.

New:
This function is especially useful for offer lists.
If someone has already looked at your list, he will see immediately what’s new. At the same time, you can see that your list is constantly changing, so it might pay off to look at it more often.

Groups:
This function is not yet active. When we have finished the collecting data base, we will create a possibility for you to exchange information in groups. In that case, you will be able to choose which groups will have access to your lists and/or will be automatically informed about changes.

Object types:
You may use a search (next point) which is more general. For example, a search that returns ALL to MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. But you don’t want books, comics or radio plays in this search, only action figures. In this case, you just click on this object type. This saves you having to create another search, you can add another filter to your list with just one click, and you can select exactly what you want. You can select as many object types as you like.

Search:
With the search you define what should be displayed in your list, without this filter you cannot create a list. All your searches are displayed in this drop-down field.
A search can be created quite simply, how to do this, you will learn in this tutorial “The Search”.

Now the question arises what you want to show to whom?

Show presentation & trade lists:
If you select this field, a drop-down box will appear at the top of your trading list, which you can use to switch to any other presentation or trade list.

This makes sense, if you generally address yourself to other collectors, because you

would like to show your collection and
who should see your trade lists the more the better!

Show this list in trading lists:
This allows you to choose whether this particular list should be visible to other trade lists that have selected at the top
If so, this list can be selected from the drop-down menu.

Online:
What do you do with a list that you have created, but for some reason do not want to have online right now.
You remove the check mark for “online”.
If you want to use the list again, check the box again, done.

That way, you don’t have to create a list over and over again, just turn it off.

If someone uses a link of an offline list, he will only see a hint that this list is either deleted or offline.
When logged in, you can always see your own lists.

Trade list overview: The control centre

The search lists and offer lists have the same functions on the overview page:

Name:
If you click on the corresponding name, you get directly to the list settings.

Selection:
Often you want to have an object, but not yet, but maybe in the future. Perhaps you have not yet struggled through. In this case it can easily happen that you click on “searched” or “for sale” but do not want it NOW.

In your corresponding list the respective object is immediately visible.
Behind the reticle there is a list of all the objects you want to sell or buy, depending on which list you are currently in.

Picture:
Here the product is displayed in thumbnail size.

Note: in COLLECTORBASE.net 2.0 the image will be displayed in full but with a width of 150px.

Type:
Specifies the object type.

Name:
Specifies the name of the object in question. If you click on the name, you will be forwarded to the detail page of the respective object.

Price/Postage (Postage only for sale):
If you have already entered a value on the detail page, you will find it here already. You can enter a postage if you want and choose a currency last. By default you will find the currency from your personal settings.

Region (only for sales):
In the region you can enter for which area the postage should be valid.

reticle – online:
Every object you select will be visible in your online list.

Delete:
Users had asked us that objects can be completely banned from a list. Once this function has been applied to a list, the object can no longer be added to that list. You have to create a new list if you change your mind.
Use this function very wisely!

Money symbol (Only for offer lists):
This function is not yet active. With it you will be able to group objects together and set them to “sold” and enter who your trading partner was.

Note: It is planned that in case of a trade between two COLLECTORBASE.net users you only have to enter the name of the buyer and the corresponding settings will be made in the accounts of the buyer and seller.

Wishlist (Only for search lists – not yet active):
There is the status “wanted up to” and the still inactive status “wish list, not more expensive than”.
If you select “Wish list, not more expensive than”, the item will only be displayed in the wish list, which you can distribute when it comes to what you could get as a gift. Friends and relatives who have no idea about your collecting passion will thank you!

If you are actively looking for the object yourself, you can choose the status “wanted up to” and you can also activate the object for the wish list at this point.

Market place (not yet active):
A marketplace is planned. If you select this function, your object will automatically be placed on the marketplace.

How do I share my trade lists?

You take the link and share it wherever you want to search or sell.

If a potential buyer wants to buy something from you, he can check the corresponding object directly in your list.
The object will then be entered directly into the email text at the end of the list.

I am logged in, so COLLECTORBASE.net takes my name and email address and puts it directly into the form. A small advantage, if you answer as a CB user to a CB offer/search list 🙂

Then click on “Save” at the end and the request will be sent to you.

Could it be easier?
