It is quite simple to expand the collection – but nevertheless you need to be accurate!
For the sake of your collection, obviously – they wouldn’t like to be recorded incorrectly! 😉
In the sub-menu of the database you will find the plus icon.
This allows you to create a new object at any time.
If you use it on the detail page, it has several functions:
From anywhere else, you can only “create a new object”.
The exact meaning of these functions will be explained on this page.
Create a new object

With this option you can create a completely new object! This is the option to use for an object that doesn’t exist on COLLECTORBASE.net so far.
Please choose an object type and click on ‘submit. You will then be forwarded to a new details page on which you can create a new object.
Use the “New” icon and select which object type you will use, which properties go with it and their values.
Make sure that you have used the correct object type. To help identify the right object type, you can search on COLLECTORBASE.net for other objects within this type and you can also read the definition of the object areas within the FAQ > Object types
IMPORTANT!
Before inserting a new object make sure that this object does not already exist.
This you can do in two different ways:
- Insert the name of the object within the search tool in the Header and check the results.
- On the details page for the new object fill in as many properties as possible and see if the object already exists.

You can use this option if you have several pieces of one object.
As this relates to identical objects, the properties are the same (although private properties are excluded).
All item specific properties, like the name of an object will be deleted, and the remaining properties keep their values.
This option has two advantages:
- you save time completing the various items that require input
- you do not run the risk of inadvertently having incorrect data in your collection.
DUPLICATE AN OBJECT
This is especially useful within a series of objects where they share a multitude of properties.
This option means that you don’t have to create an object anew, but rather than copy it to make things quicker and easier.
